Top Tablet Models: Apple, Samsung, and Huawei Explained

A tablet computer, also known as a tablet, is a small, portable personal computer that uses a touchscreen as its primary input device. Users can operate it with a stylus or digital pen on the touchscreen, and can also achieve input through built-in handwriting recognition, on-screen soft keyboards, voice recognition, or external physical keyboards.

Development History

The concept of the tablet can be traced back to the “Dynabook” proposed by Alan Kay of Xerox Palo Alto Research Center in the late 1960s. In September 1989, GRiD Systems Corporation successfully manufactured the first commercial tablet computer, the GRiD Pad, which was based on the MS-DOS operating system. However, due to technical and cost reasons, it did not become popular. In 2000, Microsoft showcased the Tablet PC at its.NET strategy conference, and in 2002, it officially launched the Tablet PC and its dedicated Windows XP Tablet PC Edition operating system. On January 27, 2010, Apple released the first-generation iPad, which redefined the tablet computer with its thin and light appearance, high-precision capacitive multi-touch screen, and strong entertainment performance, leading the tablet computer into the mainstream market.

Hardware Composition

A tablet computer is usually composed of hardware such as a motherboard, display screen, touch screen, and battery. The motherboard is the core of the tablet computer, and components such as the CPU, memory, and hard drive are installed on it.

Types

According to different structural designs, tablets can be divided into slide-out and pure tablet types. According to different touch modes, they can be divided into single-touch and dual-touch types.
