Unit
An addressable logical object representing a specific audio sub-function within an audio system. It encapsulates a distinct, self-contained audio processing or control capability (e.g., signal mixing, equalization, sample rate conversion, or signal selection) and can be uniquely identified and manipulated via a system’s control interface.
Units are “addressable” in that they are assigned unique identifiers (IDs or logical addresses), enabling precise configuration, monitoring, and coordination with other units or terminals in the audio system. Examples include a mixer unit, a processing unit, or a selector unit—each embodying a focused sub-function that contributes to the overall audio functionality.
