What is UAC/UAD?

UAC stands for USB Audio Class, sometimes also referred to as UAD, which is an abbreviation for USB Audio Device.

UAC/UAD defines the implementation and control functions for audio devices under the USB specification. These functions encompass not only the digital aspects of audio but also the analog components. This includes both audio data (analog and digital) and features for direct control of the audio environment, such as volume and tone controls. This audio device class does not include operations related to the copying of audio data, such as tape transport mechanisms or CD-ROM drive control.

ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) processes analog signals before conversion and digital signals afterward.
DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) processes digital signals before conversion and analog signals afterward.

From a user functionality perspective, it primarily encompasses the functional control and interface standards for USB microphones, USB sound cards, and other audio devices. However, its internal operations involve multiple complex functions.
