IoT applications have made remarkable progress and growth in the 5G era. Looking to the future, the continuous evolution of the IoT and its accelerated integration with AI will become new opportunities for the development of wireless networks. AIoT is accommodating more connected objects—for example, the development of embodied intelligence has brought new demands for robot networks—while also offering richer applications. In ports, mines, and factories, wireless networks are carrying increasingly complex AIoT systems.
To meet the wireless network demands arising from IoT iterations, Huawei believes that three key elements are required to move from the Internet of Everything to the Intelligent Internet of Everything: First, full-scenario IoT, which achieves connectivity for every object in the physical world and comprehensively collects data on production factors. A combination of technologies such as 5G lightweight technology, cellular passive IoT (P-IoT), and NB-IoT will meet the wireless network needs in fields like embodied intelligence and smart manufacturing. Second, 5G-A all-capable ultra-broadband networks, which provide multi-dimensional capabilities such as gigabit uplink, extremely low latency, and ultra-wide coverage to ensure fast data transmission to the cloud. Third, full intelligence empowerment, which reshapes core business production processes through industry-specific large models and scenario-based models, enabling intelligent applications across thousands of industries.
In addition, the development of wireless networks should also promote passive IoT from local area networks to wide area networks, thereby achieving seamless coverage of massive digital tags over large areas and providing new wireless network innovation value for scenarios such as industrial production and warehousing logistics.
With the support of technological innovations in wireless networks, the technical boundaries and commercial scenario boundaries of full-scenario IoT will be greatly expanded, creating business entry points and a blue ocean of opportunities for global operators to participate in the intelligentization process.
